“I had been fighting this fight since 2004, and cancer had the unmitigated nerve to make itself known again in December of 2008.  Cancer thought that if it came back in several places and at a higher stage that it was going to get the best of me.  But look at what I had in my corner— my faith, a medical team that was my “dream team,” a support system that could never be duplicated, and most of all Susan G. Komen for the Cure.” 

“Never in my life did I ever think that I would actually have to consider delaying taking care of myself, because I could not afford it.  Locally, Komen made sure that I got the early detection that I would have put off and the complete care I needed to be here today. My outcome would be drastically different, if not for the NC Triad Affiliate of Susan G. Komen.  They saved my life not once, but twice.”
