 It is a race against time, with the lives of our mothers, sisters, daughters and friends hanging in the balance.  Each year 1.1 million women worldwide are diagnosed with breast cancer, and 410,000 die from the disease.  Imagine being able to stop the breast cancer disease and its tragic consequences.

At NC Triad Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, 75% of net proceeds raised remain in our 11-county service area to fund mammograms, screenings and treatment, and education to the underserved and underprivileged in Alamance, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Wilkes, and Yadkin Counties.  The remaining 25% goes to our National Organization for the funding of research for finding the cures.

At Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, we make every penny count.  In fact, 85 cents of every dollar spent goes toward our treating and curing breast cancer.  It may be your donation that pushes us past a major turning point in discovering and delivering the cures.  On behalf of the women who will be diagnosed this year, next year and in the decade ahead, we urge you to do as much as you can as soon as you can.  You can rest assured we'll put your contribution to good use.

Komen for the Cure® has once again received the coveted         4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the nation's largest independent evaluator of charities.  This marks the third consecutive year that we have received Charity Navigator's highest rating, making us one of only 12 percent of the charities they evaluate annually that has accomplished this feat.  According to Charity Navigator President Ken Berger, this rating indicates Susan G. Komen for the Cure® "consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America."  Since the first Komen Race for the Cure® was held in 1983 in Dallas, TX, we have become the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world with well over one million participants since 2005.  We have invested nearly $1.5 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
