About Us
The NC Triad Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is dedicated to combating breast cancer at every front. Up to 75 percent of the Affiliate’s net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs for medically underserved women. The remaining net income (a minimum of 25 percent) supports the national Komen Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.
The Komen NC Triad Affiliate’s service area covers 11 counties (Alamance, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Wilkes, and Yadkin). Thanks to the thousands of people who participant in the Komen NC Triad Race for the Cure® and other Affiliate events each year, dedicated 365 Partners and generous donors, Komen NC Triad is playing a vital role in fighting breast cancer in our community.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has, once again, received the coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the nation's largest independent evaluator of charities. This marks the third consecutive year that we have received Charity Navigator's highest rating, making us one of only 12 percent of the charities they evaluate annually that has accomplished this feat. According to Charity Navigator President Ken Berger, this rating indicates Susan G. Komen for the Cure® "consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America." Since the first Komen Race for the Cure® was held in 1983 in Dallas, TX, we have become the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world with well over one million participants since 2005. We have invested nearly $1.5 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
